Markup Review
A French sports association site that uses new HTML5 elements and block level links.
The two headings in the site header
could be wrapped in an hgroup
, and the use of the figure
element to contain the rotating slideshow is not in line with the spec. figure
is to be used for essential content whose position in the flow of the document is not important. A div
or nav
would be more appropriate in this case as the images are also links.
The spec also says that nav
shouldn’t be used in footer
.

“The spec also says that nav shouldn’t be used in footer.”
???
Well, it says :
“The footer element alone is sufficient for such cases, without a nav element.”
Despite, the examples below this sentence show nav elements in footers.
See:
http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/Overview.html#the-nav-element
The examples don’t actually show nav elements nested in the footers, however there is plenty of debate about the spec saying footer alone is sufficient.
It would be a brave man who predicts the spec will stay that way.
It’s in the aside code examples : 😉
