Markup Review

As its name implies ‘Bifter SVG Comic’ is a web comic drawn using SVG. We’ll leave the author Jonathan Ingram to explain a little further:

I wanted to make a comic that could be read by screenreader software, whilst encompassing a lot of the technologies that are now more common. Namely HTML5, CSS3, SVG and RDFa. The site also uses @fontface to help with the typography.

I used ’em’ instead of pixels for the layout, so the site still looks nice zommed in or out. This means it also translates well to devices like the iPad.

In future I’ll be looking to implement HTML5 drag and drop (so I can attach a packet of free stickers with future issues) as well as some easter eggs using CSS3 animation.
